Vijayawada: Don’t be misled by sops, voters urged

Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme launched by the Election Commission of India for creating voter awareness.

Vijayawada: District electoral officer and collector A. Md. Imtiaz on Friday appealed to voters to cast their vote based on the promises and performance of the parties and not fall prey to sops.

He participated and sensitised members of the Hotel Owners Association on casting of votes during a meeting held here as part of Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme launched by the Election Commission of India for creating voter awareness.

Mr Imtiaz said that as per the orders of the Election Commission the administration has been organising various programmes across the district to educate the people on casting their vote freely without the influence of money, alcohol, caste or religion.

He said that the members of Hotel Owners Association should take up responsibility to create awareness through banners, stickers inside the hotels and educate the youth on the importance of their vote.

The collector said that the owners of online food delivery chains to provide information of voting day while delivering food to customers to create awareness.
