Congress will defeat TD, YSRC, says Raghuveera Reddy

Reddy, who won as the MLA from Kalyanadurgam in the 2009 polls, shifted to Penuk-onda but was defeated.

Anantapur: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee chief N. Raghuveera Reddy hopes that he will win from Kalyanadurgam Assembly segment during the trianglular fight between the Congress, YSRC and TD.

The Congress has fielded candidates on a single point agenda that it will accord Special Category Stat-us to the state. The party was wiped out in the last polls due to dissidence over the state’s division. The YSRC succeeded in attracting a majority of leaders from Congress and developed as an alternative party.

But even as a large number of Congress leaders shifted loyalties to YSRC, few like N. Raghuveera Reddy are committed to the Congress.

He has made serious efforts to rebuild the party in the state. Though, TD had an alliance with the Congress in the last elections in Telangana, both parties have fielded candidates on their own in AP.

Mr Reddy, who won as the MLA from Kalyanadurgam in the 2009 polls, shifted to Penukonda but was defeated.

Mr Raghuveera Reddy is again contesting from Kalayanadurgam segment and hoping voters from his own community in addition to developmental activities during his regime as minister from 2009-14 would help.

The Kalyanadurgam segment got a railway line from Rayadurgam-Tumkur during his tenure and presently a passenger train is operated between Kadiridevarapalli towards Tirupati.
