It’s a nightmare on Domlur flyover

Six roads meet at the junction and it is busy round the clock.

Bengaluru: Motorists using the Domlur flyover to reach Indira Nagar from Koramangala during night face the twin dangers of poor lighting and mismanagement of traffic. And despite numerous complaints the authorities have turned a deaf ear.

Six roads meet at the junction and it is busy round the clock. It provides link to 100 feet road, HAL Airport road U-turn, Indira Nagar double road and 17th Main road. Travelling through the junction has become a nightmare for the commuters.

Mukesh, a software engineer with a private firm, said during night vehicle users always risk an accident due to poor lighting and traffic mismanagement. As there would be no traffic cops manning the junction during nights and no one cares about the signal, it is a disaster waiting to happen.

"Vehicles come from all the directions and no one bothers to stop at the signal. Motorists ride according to their whims and fancies and take abrupt turns. Even the riders and drivers driving with utmost caution risk getting hit by other vehicles," said another commuter.

A traffic police official admitted that the junction is not safe for vehicle users and pedestrians. He blamed the civic authorities for poor maintenance of street lights. He said several times they have taken up this issue with civic officials concerned, but nothing has been done. But, he said, there was no laxity on part of the police.
