Hyderabad: Case against school as girl suffers injury

When parents went to school, they found Supriya crying and her eye had become red.

Hyderabad: A seven-year-old student suffered a severe injury when a piece of pencil lead pierced her right eye while she was playing with her classmates at her school in Rajendranagar. Her parents blamed it on the negligence of the school management and said they were not informed immediately after the incident.

The incident took place at Krishi High School in the Prof. Jayashankar Agriculture University on Tuesday. Supriya, 7, was having lunch with her classmates on Tuesday, when a pencil being handled by another student pierced her right eye.

The parents were informed that Supriya had suffered some injury. When they went to school, they found Supriya crying and her eye had become red. They took her to a hospital where it was found that she had a piece of pencil lead inside the eye. Doctors performed a surgery and removed it.

Supriya’s mother Suhasini complained to the Rajendranagar police who registered a case against the school principal, a teacher and the boy who allegedly injured the girl. Accor-ding to Rajendranagar inspector G. Suresh, Ms Suhasini alleged that the class teacher and the principal had failed to take care of the child and did not take her to the hospital.
