CM Pinarayi Vijayan seeks report on child attack at Thodupuzha
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday sought urgent report on the brutal assault on the seven-year-old child at Thodupuzha.
The Chief Minister said Idukki district administration has been asked to submit a detailed report on the incident. He directed the authorities to provide best of medical care to the child.
Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights on Friday took suo motu case in connection with the brutal assault on a seven-year-old child in Thodu-puzha. The case was registered on the direction of commission chairman P. Suresh.
The commission viewed seriously the growing violence against children. The Commission will be vigilant in ensuring maximum punishment for the accused and appropriate legal action in the case.
The commission sought detailed reports from State Police Chief and district collector on the gruesome incident.
The chairman said that the commission would closely monitor the police investigations into the case and ensure maximum punishment for the accused .The government will will take up the protection of the child who is battling for life and his younger sibling.
The health department and women and child development department will jointly take up the responsibility of medical treatment and protection of the children.
Health minister K.K. Shylaja said directions had been issued to the health authorities to provide specialist treatment to the child.
The authorities concerned have been directed to take stringent action against the person who brutally attacked the child.
The attack on children cannot be accepted in any way. Despite coming to know about the brutal assault, the attempt to keep it under the wraps was criminal lapse, the minister said.
