AIADMK MLA does a volte face on resignation
Chennai: AIADMK MLA V. Panneerselvam of Kalasappakkam constituency in Tiruvannamalai district on Thursday took a U-turn from his earlier statement that he would resign from the MLA post on Saturday if the Centre did not form the Cauvery Management Board by Friday.
“I took the decision to resign from my MLA post after meeting the chief minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Saturday, but the CM called me over the phone and insisted not to take any decision in haste”, Panneerselvam told DC.
“I took the decision to reflect the sentiments of TN farmers, but the Chief Minister has assured necessary action through the judicial process”, he said.
Paneerselvam quoting Palaniswami said, “the state was firm on its stand in getting the Cauvery management board formed and was taking all steps to file a contempt petition against the centre”.
It may be noted that the Opposition DMK is also mounting pressure on the ruling AIADMK government to go in for an en-mass resignation of TAMIL Nadu MPs and MLAs so that a political pressure can be brought on Centre.
