Nalini Netto is new Kerala chief secretary

Nalini who will take charge on April 1, will have five months in the top post.

Thiruvananthapuram: Cabinet on Wednesday appointed Nalini Netto as the new chief secretary. She takes over from incumbent chief secretary S.M. Vijayanand whose term ends on March 31.

Nalini who will take charge on April 1, will have five months in the top post. Additional chief secretary (Public Works) Subrata Biswas has been appointed as secretary home and vigilance. Both the departments were held by Nalini Netto.

Additional chief secretary planning department V.S. Senthil has been given additional charge of secretary to chief minister. Asha Thomas comes in place of Subrata Biswas as principal secretary public works. She will continue to hold the post of managing director Roads and Bridges Corporation.

Fisheries principal secretary James Varghese has been given additional charge of environment department, Satyajit Rajan will have additional charge of General Administration principal secretary. He comes in place of additional chief secretary Sheela Thomas who attains super annuation on March 31. At the moment Satyajit Rajan is principal secretary P and ARD. Kochi corporation secretary Haritha V Kumar has been posted as panchayat director. The incumbent panchayat director Balakiran has been posted as tourism director.

Cabinet decided to promote 1986 batch IAS officers P J Kurien, revenue principal secretary and James Varghese, fisheries principal secretary as additional chief secretaries.

Cabinet also decided to create 210 posts of commandos for Indian Reserve Battalion in view of the increasing threat of terrorist outfits.
