Vijayawada: Non-NDA meets across 10 states

As part of his efforts, Mr Naidu has also taken a special interest in meeting Congress president Rahul Gandhi.

Vijayawada: Buoyed by the success of Kolkata meeting, anti-Modi front is expected to step up heat as general elections are fast approaching. Ahead of the general elections, non-NDA parties are planning Kolkata kind meetings across the 10 states in the coming days.

One such meeting will be held at Amaravati later in February and TD supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu has mooted the idea of conducting such meetings in other states too.

While at least 22 parties had attended the meeting that was held in Kolkata at the beginning of this month, as of now, DMK, JDS, RJD, NCP and National Conference have agreed for such meetings in other states as well.

Mr Naidu will be going to Delhi on February 1 and the top of his agenda is to discuss with other party leaders on conducting these meetings. Ever since he snapped ties with the BJP led NDA, Mr Naidu has been pushing the anti-Modi agenda at the Centre for which he had made several trips to Delhi and met leaders of various political parties.

As part of his efforts, Mr Naidu has also taken a special interest in meeting Congress president Rahul Gandhi. At the February 1 meeting, dates of the meetings in other states are expected to be finalised by bringing other parties also on board.

Later, on the same day, all the non-NDA parties are going to meet the Chief Election Commiss-ioner and also the President of India, urging to abandon Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), citing there are possibilities to hack them.

“The TD supremo has been relentlessly working for an alternative front to Modi at the Centre. These meetings will boost such efforts and strengthen such a Front. He has also been highlighting the injustice meted out to Andhra Pradesh by the Centre at the national-level,” a senior TD leader said.
