Telangana HC to take up plea against Bison on Feb 12

The bench observed that there are no interim orders issued by the court on the issue.

Hyderabad: Telangana High Court on Tuesday clarified it will decide on the petitions by Bison Polo Ground and Gymkhana Ground, which had sought a direction to the Centre not to allow Telangana state government to carry out constructions there on February 12.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Thottathil B. Radha-krishnan and Justice A. Rajasekhar Reddy was dealing with two Public Interest Litigations, one filed by former DGP Mr M. V. Bhaskar Rao, former cricketer Mr Vivek Jaisimha, Mr T. Bharadwaj and squadron leader Anil Bhalla; and another by Mr V. Bahadur Sahgal. Both PILs want Telangana state government to be directed not to change the nature of both grounds.

The bench observed that there are no interim orders issued by the court on the issue and said the Union and state governments can go ahead with correspondence, discussions, and negotiations in relation to handover of Bison Polo and the Gymkhana Ground plots without touching the grounds.

Additional advocate general J. Ramchandra Rao submitted that the Central government has agreed to hand over the said three grounds to Telangana state to build the state secretariat and other buildings.
