Council of India but they have only 7,000 now and there is hardly any fund to buy the books.

Nellore: New principal of AC Subba Reddy Government Medical College in Nellore Dr A. Srihari has been making use of his friends in medical fraternity to act as guest lecturers to help the students overcome the shortage of teaching staff.

Though there is no payment or honorarium from the government’s side, the guest lecturers have been coming because of their acquaintance with the principal and in the interest of students.

Dr Srihari is also securing books required for the library through his contacts since they should have 11,000 books in the library as per the norms of the Medical Council of India but they have only 7,000 now and there is hardly any fund to buy the books.

Dr Srihari said that they are taking steps to introduce Post Graduate courses by next year and this will help them overcome manpower shortage both in the college and the Hospital to some extent.

Admitting that there are some shortcomings in the functioning of the institution, he said that he, along with Hospital Superintendent A. Srinivas, have been trying their best to run the college smoothly and thanked the faculty members, Medical officers and staff for extending their cooperation.
