Jothi's mantra is Reach out to the needy and don't be greedy'.

Kurnool: At a time when the medical profession has become becoming highly commercialised, here is a doctor from Kadapa who is reaching out to every common man.

She has been in the forefront in performing free surgeries and helping the needy. Her mission is to provide medical treatment even to those who may not be able to afford it. Her mantra is “Reach out to the needy and don't be greedy.”

Meet Dr Jothi Neeraja Satyananda, one of the top most gynaecologists in the country. Daughter-in-law of the famous surgeon of Kadapa, Dr Kandluri Nag-anna, Dr Jothi is a key me-mber of the philanthropic organisation, People Tree Foundation; where she pl-ayed an important role in performing 300 free high-end surgeries, free of cost, to the Below Poverty Line patients.

Dr Jothi’s husband Dr Upendra said, “Looking at Dr Jothi's contribution to the society, we have been receiving a lot of invitations from political parties. Many of the leaders have met her and have invited her to take the leap into politics as philanthropists and entrepreneurs like Jothi are very much needed in public space. Jothi feels that she would be willing to join politics so that she can serve the society better but doesn't want to fight elections.”

Dr Jothi also thanks her friend Dr Soumya Ramesh (daughter-in law of former Prime Minister, H.D. Deve Gowda and daughter of transport minister D.C. Thammanna).

“I was working in Kada-pa and it was Dr Soumya who motivated me to take up a career in Bengaluru and hence I moved here. I will always be very grateful to her", she added.

Even today, the medical fraternity across the country remembers Dr Jothi for some of the complex surgeries she has performed. Till date, Dr Jothi has performed more than 8,000 surgeries. Dr Jothi is currently staying in Bengaluru with her husband and two children; Dr Abhishek K and Abhinav.

Dr Jothi Said, “I am not interested in politics directly. However, I feel that every responsible citizen should be keen to take up leadership roles to help the society at large.”

Dr Jothi has stood rock solid behind the People Tree Foundation and helped the needy in receiving free medical care and sponsors girl children’s education every year.

She believes in “Right to Quality Health for Everyone”.
