K Pawan Kalyan urges parties to unite for SCS, to skip CM's meet
Vijayawada: Jana Sena founder president K. Pawan Kalyan has asserted the need for collective effort by all political parties to get Special Category Status (SCS), bifurcation assurances and funds for Andhra Pradesh at Vijayawada on Tuesday. Former MP Undavalli Arun Kumar called all parties for the meeting in which Congress, Jana Sena, Telugu Desam, Aam Aadmi Party, CPI, BJP and other parties barring YSR Congress and CPM participated.
Mr Arun Kumar said that the meeting decided to work in a united manner for the fulfilment of SCS and bifurcation assurances and to get funds from the Union government. He said that this was the first meeting which gave positive results and stated that YSRC and CPM would join them soon.
Mr Kumar said that the state’s issues would not be resolved if the political parties remained silent. He asserted the need for swift response towards SCS, bifurcation assurances and funds allocation. He stated that the need of the hour was not accusing Congress and BJP, but to work hard to get constitutional rights. He said that CPM had refused to join the meeting due to the presence of BJP and YSRC due to the presence of TD. He said that he would convince them to join them to pressurise the Union government for their rights.
Retired Supreme Court Judge Jasti Chelameswar explained about the constitutional rights and responsibilities of states and the Centre and further about constitutional rights of residuary AP State. AP Congress Committee vice president N. Thulasi Reddy reiterated about giving SCS and fulfilling bifurcation assurances by Congress immediately after coming into power.
He lamented that North Indian leaders would highlight the fact that they were not united towards working for interests of AP. Hence he called all political parties to launch a collective fight for the state’s interests.
Mr Pawan Kalyan lamented that the state was divided unscientifically and said that there were differences about the pending of funds to AP by the BJP government among the political parties. Hence the BJP government should give some clarification about the pending funds. He asserted the need of a collective fight by all political parties.
TD minister for agriculture Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy claimed that the Central government had to give Rs 16,000 crore as funds and alleged that the Centre was biased towards the release of funds and solution of other issues.
Meanwhile Jana Sena founder president Mr K. Pawan Kalyan will not attend the meeting of all parties and organisations on Special Category Status and bifurcation assurances scheduled on January 30. Welcoming the move of conducting a meeting with all political parties and organisations, Mr Kalyan thanked AP Chief Minister Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu for inviting him to the meeting.
However Mr Kalyan objected to the invitation being extended at the last minute, that is on Tuesday evening, for the meeting scheduled on Wednesday.
He further objected that there was no agenda to the meeting to be held by the AP Government led by Mr Naidu. He said the meeting seemed poised to get political mileage for the Telugu Desam party in the pre-election scenario.
Mr Kalyan said that there was no use with such “namesake” meetings and asserted on a dedicated need to fight for SCS and for the fulfilment of bifurcation promises. Mr Kalyan said that JS was ready to join in the fight for SCS and bifurcation assurances with strong parties but there was no use in tying up with the TD Government and hence Jana Sena would not be attending the meeting
