Chennai: Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa inaugurated the Rs 1,650 crore 'Multilayered Double Coated Board' manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited, in Motandi-patti village in Tiruchy district.
Commissioning of this plant will help TNPL to augment its capacity by two lakh tonnes a year to six lakh tonnes, a government release stated. Jayalalithaa had made an announcement in the state Assembly on this on May 20, 2013.
Jayalalithaa also inaugurated country's first Rs 50 crore cement manufacturing plant from solid waste in the TNPL plant in Kakithapuram in Karur district. She also inaugurated series of initiatives under Tamil Nadu Salt Corporation, Tamil Nadu Cements Corporation Ltd, cogeneration power plant at Sengalvarayan Cooperative Sugar Mill in Villupuram.
