Kochi: With a view to speed up the implementation of Smart City projects, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), registered under the Company’s Act on the lines of the Kochi Metro Rail Ltd, would be formed before the ensuing assembly elections, Mayor Soumini Jain said on Friday.
“A high-level committee chaired by the chief secretary will initiate the steps soon. Council decisions will feature prominently in the plan of action to be formulated by the SPV,” she said.
A detailed project report (DPR) on international standards will be laid out thereafter by appointing a competitive consultant before the tenders are floated.
“The SPV will decide on the priority of projects and source of funding among others. Two major programmes identified under the ‘pan-city smart Solution’ are 24/7 water supply system and an Intelligent Citizen Services platform. The services of the Corporation and other government institutions would be linked with the Open Loop Smartcard system of the Kochi Metro Rail,” she said.
Besides projects like E-Wallet (online prepaid account where one can stock money to be used when required) and Kochi City Application will be implemented.
