High command backs CM Oommen Chandy

New Delhi: The Congress High Command on Friday made it clear that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy need not resign from the post in the wake of the Kerala High Court suspending he Thrissur Vigilance judge’s order to register an FIR in the solar scam case.

Party spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala told reports in New Delhi that there is no merit in the demand for the resignation of the chief minister now.

The Congress spokesperson, however, chose to criticise the action of the Youth Congress workers who took out marches against the vigilance judge on Thursday saying the party did not approve of such action.

It was reported on Thursday that the high command had sought a report from the state unit on the development in the solar scam.

Youth Congress workers staged demonstrations on Thursday with the coffin of the Vigilance judge S S Vassan who ordered the Vigilance to file FIR against the chief minister.
