CB-CID to probe death of SVS college girls

The parents of the deceased girls charged that their daughters were murdered citing the external injuries.

Chennai: The probe in the case of the 3 girls found dead in a well in Villpuram was transferred to the Crime Branch - Criminal Investigation Division (CB-CID) by top brass of the State Police.

The girls, all students of the SVS College of Naturopathy and Yoga Science, at Bangaram near Chinna Salem, in Villupuram district, were discovered dead on January 23. The parents of the deceased girls charged that their daughters were murdered citing the external injuries, which they had seen on the dead bodies.

Even as the initial reports suggested that the students may have committed suicide since suicide notes were recovered from their room, mystery continued to surround their deaths.

Sources said that the DGP Ashok Kumar has ordered the transfer of investigation from Villupuram District Police to the CBCID sleuths. Villupuram Police were also informed about the same, and instructed to extend their cooperation for the probe.
