Telangana government constitutes panel to pick TERC chief, 2 members
Hyderabad: The Telangana state government has constituted a selection committee for the appointment of a new chairman and two members for the Telangana Electricity Regulatory Commission (TERC).
Retired High Court judge Justice V. Bhaskara Rao will be the chairman of the selection committee, while chief secretary S.K. Joshi and the chairman of the Central Electricity Authority will be the two members. The committee has been asked to submit a report within two weeks.
Though the term of the chairmen of the ERCs is five years, the incumbent cannot continue in the position after the age of 65 years. The current TERC chairman, Mr Ismail Ali Khan, still has eleven months for his five-year term to be over. But he crossed the age limit on January 10, 2019 which led the government to constitute the committee.
