Baby abducted in Tirumala
Tirupati: A one-and-half-year-old baby boy was abducted from a family when they were asleep at an old mandapam situated opposite the busy Madhava Nilayam (PAC-II) at Tirumala on Friday.
According to the police, a family of four persons along with the toddler, Veeresh Dalimbe, hailing from Latur district in Maharashtra, had arrived at Tirumala on Thursday night to have the Lord’s darshan.
As they were unable to get accommodation, the family rested under the mandapam and went to sleep. Veeresh was reportedly abducted during the early hours.
Veeresh’s father Prashanth D. Jadhav and the mother found him missing when they woke up at 7 am.
The parents searched the vicinity and later approached the vigilance personnel and lodged a police complaint.
Police checked the CCTV foot-age and confirmed that the boy was abducted by an unidentified person.
“On verifying the CCTV footage recorded near the RTC bus stand junction, we noticed a man walking away with the child. He seemed to have covered his face partially with a woolen balaclava and was carrying a backpack,” said Tirumala DSP Sivarami Reddy. He said searches were intensified at all entry/ exit points of Tirumala. Photographs and footage were released to the media and posted on social media.
