Hyderabad: Osmania University becomes the third in the state to have sanitary napkin vending machines installed in ladies hostels. Female students had submitted many representations to the administration after EFLU and UoH installed the same earlier this year.
However, OU takes a step forward as over seven machines have been installed as compared to the one or two machines in the other universities. Varsity officials also installed incinerators which is a step that is being lauded by many. Preeti Agarwal, a student says, “We have constantly fought for vending machines but the university thought ahead and got us the right way to dispose the napkins as well. This is a first as I believe the other universities are yet to get incinerators.” The machines were sponsored by M/s. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited and inaugurated by Prof. S. Ramachandram, OU Vice Chancellor.
