Karimnagar: Interstate bridge opening tomorrow
Karimnagar: Four interstate bridges coming up on rivers Pranahitha, Godavari, and Indravati are likely to cut down the strength of Maoists in Chattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Telangana states.
Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, Telangana, Maharashtra Governor and ministers of both the states will attend. An interstate bridge constructed at the estimated cost Rs 250 crore on River Godavari at Kannepalli in Mahadevpur in old Karimnagar district covering 1.6 km connects Sironcha of Maharashtra where Maoists movements are high. The bridge constructed between Chinthapalli of Sironcha of Maharashtra and Kannepalli of Telangana is on either side of river Godavari.
The interstate bridges will enable the police to coordinate with the police of other states and to deploy or shift the police forces immediately to the scene of offence or to control Maoists and their violence.
Interstate bridges are also coming up at Arjunigutta connecting old Adilabad district with Gadchiroli of Maharashtra and also at Gudem in Bejjur mandal and also in Sirpur(T) mandal connecting the old Adilabad district with Maharashtra. It is fact that Maoists enter Telangana from Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh by crossing the rivers Pranahitha, Godavari, and Indravathi.
The inter-state bridges are coming in handy for the police of all the three states in controlling Maoists activities on bordering areas of three states. It is quite visible that the Maoists’ movements were now confined to both the sides of rivers Pranahitha, Godavari and Indravathi rivers of three states.
An interstate bridge is being constructed on Indravati at Pathagudem in Sirocha mandal with the estimated cost '140 crore and another bridge at Ravanapalli of Kotapalli of Chennur Assembly constituency with '126 crore in Mancherial district.
A senior police officer of Karimnagar said the new interstate bridges coming up on the rivers would certainly improve the road connectivity to the interior Maoist- affected areas along the borders of Telangana, Maharashtra, and Chattisgarh and added that the road connectivity will cut down the strength of the Maoists.
