Cashew worker dies at hunger protest venue in Thevalakkara

He breathed his last by 10.30 am on Wednesday.

Kollam: A 47-year-old cashew worker, who was on a hunger strike in front a private cashew factory in Thevalakkara here as part of an ongoing protest by CITU, died at a private hospital on Wednesday. V. Raju of Porayil Veettil, Koyivila in Thevalakkara was declared ‘brought dead’.

He developed physical uneasiness at the venue and was taken to a private hospital nearby. He was later admitted to Kollam district hospital on Tuesday morning after his condition worsened. He breathed his last by 10.30 am on Wednesday. Latha, CPM Kollam district committee member, and children Divya, Ramya, and Rahul.
