Cashew worker dies at hunger protest venue in Thevalakkara

Kollam: A 47-year-old cashew worker, who was on a hunger strike in front a private cashew factory in Thevalakkara here as part of an ongoing protest by CITU, died at a private hospital on Wednesday. V. Raju of Porayil Veettil, Koyivila in Thevalakkara was declared ‘brought dead’.

He developed physical uneasiness at the venue and was taken to a private hospital nearby. He was later admitted to Kollam district hospital on Tuesday morning after his condition worsened.
