Thanjavur: Maveerar Dhinam (day observed on the martyrdom of Shankar, first martyr of Eelam war as acknowledged by the late LTTE supremo Velupillai Prabhakaran) was observed at ‘Mullivaikkal Mutram’, raised in memory of martyrs of THE Eeelam war at Mullivaikkal in Sri Lanka, on Wednesday.
P. Nedumaran, president of Ulaga Thamizhar Peramaippu, C. Mahendran, national administrative council member paid “Veeravanakkam”(salutes) to the martyrs.
Nedumaran said that Veeravanakka Naal is observed as per the wishes of the slain Prabhakaran on November 27 every year.
He also said that world Tamil community should support Tamils in Sri Lanka to form Eelam. Now the new president (Gotabaya Rakpaksa) was the man who carried out the war against Tamils in the island nation (in 2009). India should understand this and chalk out its policy towards Sri Lanka accordingly, Nedumaran pleaded at the memorial.
