Crucial Bombay High Court relief for Uddhav

The division bench of Justices S.C. Dharma-dhikari and R.I. Chagla told the petitioners that it did not have the time to hear their plea urgently.

Mumbai: The Bombay high court on Thursday refused to grant urgent hearing to the petition restraining Uddhav Thackeray from taking oath as Chief Minister and said, “Is the concept of divorce new to the law of marriages?”

A group of lawyers approached two benches of the high court, calling themselves BJP supporters, and sought direction to both the Shiv Sena and the BJP to abide by their pre-poll alliance and not form the government with the Congress and NCP.

The division bench of Justices S.C. Dharma-dhikari and R.I. Chagla told the petitioners that it did not have the time to hear their plea urgently. The petitioners’ counsel Mathews Nedumpara then approached the division bench of Chief Justice Pradeep Nandrajog and Justice Bharati Dangre, seeking immediate hearing as only a few hours were left for the swearing-in ceremony.
