Polling booths go tobacco-free in Telangana

Hyderabad: The Chief Electoral Officer of Telangana directed election officilas to display no smoking signs at all polling booths.

The orders have been issued to all district collectors, electoral officers and returning officers in the state. The EC has stated that all polling booths must be smok-free zone.
Secretary of the Indian Dental Association, Deccan Branch, Dr A Srikanth, said, “This will create awareness amongst the public against public smoking. Creation of such zones during an important event like elections will also pave the way to follow the rules to not smoke in public.
