Kozhikode: Now, PUBG takes toll on children

Android games have always had an immense impact on children and are often addictive.

Kozhikode: After the impacts of Bluewhale android game, there haven’t been many android games that caused too much distraction or addiction on children until recently the game called PUBG was released. Though not as dangerous as Bluewhale, Playerunknown's Battlegrounds still poses severe threats to the mental and physical strength of the children.

It is an online multiplayer Battle Royale game which was developed and published by PUBG Corporation, a subsidiary of South Korean video game company Bluehole.

Users of all ages are found to be playing the game, and a majority of the users comes under the age category of 10 to 15. The adrenaline rush caused by the gameplay forces the users to continue playing for hours, and in students, this causes addiction to a dangerous level. They drift away from their studies and spend most of their time playing the game.

The lack of other outdoor activities and games today is the chief reason for children getting attracted to mobile and PC games. Statistics show that the game has over 100 million downloads from the Google play store and it is the most popular game in the apple store as well.

It is a player versus player shooting game, in which up to a hundred players can compete in a Battle Royale at a time to finish as the last man standing and it is highly time-consuming as one battle lasts from five to 30 minutes.

Students playing the game are distracted from their studies and often spend most of their time on the game. Once played, it already performs to be addictive. Recent news reports also show incident within the country where children are treated because of addiction to PUBG.

Android games have always had an immense impact on children and are often addictive. Hence it is the responsibility of the parents to act accordingly.
