Hyderabad: Even though the stench has dissipated on NTR Marg and Tank Bund, it is still continuing in the area between Sanjeevaiah Park and PV Ghat. The foul smell emanating from the lake has been unbearable.
A senior HMDA official said the plastic coming from upstream was the reason for the stench on the stretch between Sanjeevaiah Park and PV Ghat.
He said according to the HMDA’s survey the foul smell aggravates for three days after rain as sewage and plastic enter the lake.
The official said that the municipal body would focus on the issue and provide a permanent solution.
“If the Sanjeevaiah Park-PV Ghat stretch is cleaned the Hussainsagar will become completely odour-free. The HMDA has been making plans and would arrest the odour by enhancing the water quality,” the official said.
