GUNTUR: YSR Congress senior leader Botcha Satyanarayana alleged that attacks and harassment of Dalit employees has increased under the TD rule. “Recently, a Dalit employee from the medical and health department, N. Ravikumar, committed suicide unable to bear harassment. He said that the TD government failed to provide security and protection to Dalit staffers. So, the YSRC has decided to conduct protests, seeking protection of Dalits.

He and other leaders of YSRC addressed a press conference in Guntur on Tuesday evening. Mr Satyanarayana said corruption is increasing by the day in TD rule.He alleged that TD ministers, legislators and leaders were promoting corruption and robbing public money through illegal activities. He claimed that the YSRC is not against the establishment of Amaravati, but was objecting the forceful snatching of land of the poor.

The YSRC leader said the TD government did not spare even the Dalits, when it came to acquiring land for the TD party office. The officials, in fact, snatched away the livelihood of farmers, he said. Mr Satyanarayana said there was good water reserve in the Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar dams. The TD is hoarding water in the reservoirs to use the same next year during elections and hence, not releasing water for irrigation purposes to Guntur, Prakasam district in this agriculture season, he alleged.

He announced that the YSRC will continue protests till water was released for cultivation. Guntur East MLA Md Mustafa, YSRC leaders R. Venkata Ramana, L. Appi Reddy, former minister M. Venkata Ramana, YSRC SC cell state president M. Nagarjuna, YSRC state official spokesperson Ambati Rambabu and others addressed the press meet.  Earlier, the YSRC leaders paid floral tributes to the portrait of Dalit reformist Jyoti Rao Phule on his 127 birth anniversary.
