Metro-SCB land exchange scuffle to be soon resolved

The land deal formalities could not be completed due to slight deficit of land.

HYDERABAD: The land exchange issue between the SCB and Hyderabad Metro Rail that had arisen following construction of piers and interchange station at Parade Ground is likely to be sorted out. In lieu of the 2.5 acres of defence land given to Metro Rail, the SCB was promised land and a four-storey Sainik rest house on the old Gandhi Medical College premises. Formalities could not be completed due to slight deficit of land.

The SCB was promised 1.65 acres in Basheerbagh, but officials could get only 1.62 acres. The deficit became a hurdle. A few weeks ago, the Union defence ministry wrote to defence officials here asking their views. Officials stated that the deficit was small, and they don’t have a problem accepting it. The Rs 9 crore rest house will accommodate Army jawans coming to the city.
