Hyderabad: 2,000 tonnes of trash collected after Diwali
As many as 18,000 sanitation workers got to work early in the morning to clean up the mess.
Hyderabad: Massive heaps of trash greeted sanitation workers of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Monday morning, a day after Diwali festivities. The trash included burnt firecrackers and organic waste such as flowers and leaves used in religious ceremonies.
As many as 18,000 sanitation workers got to work early in the morning to clean up the mess. GHMC additional commissioner Musharaf Ali Faruqui estimated the amount of trash to be 1,500 to 2,000 tonnes. He said the amount of waste has been higher than in previous years.
