Hyderabad: 45 held in cordon and search operations

In the operation at Suleman Nagar in Rajendranagar, around 200 policemen cordoned off the area and searched the houses.

Hyderabad: Around 45 suspects were detained and 111 vehicles were seized by the Hyderabad and Cyberabad police during cordon and search operations at Santoshnagar, Rajendranagar and Pet Basheerabad limits late Saturday night.

In Pet Basheerabad, around 150 police personnel, including armed force, cordoned Vajpainagar area and checked the residential colonies. The police found 49 bikes, three auto-rickshaws and a car in the possession of residents without any documents in support of the claims of their ownership.

The police also detained 16 suspects, who were involved in offences earlier and took them into custody to verify their involvement in the recent cases.

Balanagar DCP P.V. Padmaja said, “The public has expressed utmost satisfaction over the search operation and extended their support, asking for more such operations in the neighbouring areas.”

In the operation at Suleman Nagar in Rajendranagar, around 200 policemen cordoned off the area and searched the houses. The operation that started at 10.30 pm lasted for three hours with the seizure of 22 bikes and five auto-rickshaws from the claimants. The police also took custody of 20 suspects, including two history-sheeters, to verify their antecedents.

Meanwhile, another search operation was conducted by the South zone police of Hyderabad at Rakshapuram Colony in Santoshnagar, where around 250 policemen participated in the operation and detained nine suspects who were in contact with previous offenders.

The police also seized 46 vehicles from the claimants for not having relevant documents in support of their claims.
