Hyderabad: CBSE to expand evaluation unit

The Board faced several problems with evaluations previously.

Hyderabad: CBSE Class X and XII students who are tense at the possibility of their results getting delayed or having evaluation errors in their answer sheets, as has happened in previous years, have some good news.

The board has decided to increase the number of evaluation centres and appoint more teachers. This is being done to ensure error-free and timely evaluation of answer books.

Board exams have been marred by delays and errors in awarding marks and compiling them. Meritorious students have had to spend time and money to move the board to get the errors corrected.

If the results are provided in time, and are error free, students would have a better chance at competing for admissions in top colleges.

Prof. Narsimha Reddy, Principal, Hyderabad Public School, Ramanthapur, said, “Of late, it has become a bit inconvenient for CBSE students as their results are declared after all other school boards announce boards. There is definitely some tension as many undergraduate colleges and universities start admissions in early April or May. This decision of the CBSE is welcome as it will give students more time to work their options.”

P. Obul Reddy Public School Principal Anjali Razdan said, “The timing is just right it has started in October as against December or January when these steps would be initiated earlier. It’s a sign of efficiency and good governance of the board.”

The board has also asked schools to update data of their teachers so that the board can appointment them for examination and evaluation duties.

It has also sought details of their experience.
