Tamil Nadu: Former sub-inspector's son hacks wife, goes scot-free
Chennai: The son of a retired sub-inspector who hacked his wife in full public view in Shenoy Nagar has gone scot-free using his father’s clout. The suspect’s father had served in the jurisdictional T.P. Chathiram police station due to which the cops are dismissing it as an incident of a simple domestic quarrel.
On Monday, injured Archana Devi (38), who is separated from her husband Prasad, was walking along Shenoy Nagar, when he intercepted her. She continued walking since he turned abusive and as she was in a hurry to put her 2-year-old son in a child-care centre. However, Prasad pulled out a knife and hacked her multiple times in face and head.
The onlookers rescued the woman and admitted her to the Kilpauk Medical College Hospital (KMCH). “It took two surgeries to reconstruct her face while the family approached the cops in vain. They talk in a dismissive tone when we approached. We learnt that Prasad’s father had served in that police station. We don’t know who to approach here,” a relative said. She relocated to the mainland after getting married to Prasad who worked as a driver in Andamans in 2007. Since Prasad suspected her fidelity, she decided to part ways. She subsequently moved in with her mother to Kilpauk.
