KSPCB directs BWSSB to recycle sewage flowing near Vrushabhavathi Valley

KSPCB chairman Lakshman suggested that sewage should be effectively used and a proposal should be prepared in this regard.

Bengaluru: As the water crisis looms and water bodies in the state continue to dry, the KSPCB has directed the BWSSB to recycle the sewage flowing near Vrushabhavathi Valley and release treated water to industries in Bidadi and dried up lakes of Ramanagaram. Addressing a meeting with Lake Development Authority and BWSSB officials on Friday, KSPCB chairman Lakshman suggested that sewage should be effectively used and a proposal should be prepared in this regard. “Pump the sewage flowing near Vrushabhavathi Valley to Nayandahalli sewage treatment plant (STP) and release the recycled water to Bidadi and Ramanagaram through RCC pipeline. Conduct a feasibility study and submit a proposal,” he told BWSSB officials.

The KSPCB sought a comprehensive report on the catchment area around the industries near Vrushbhavathi Valley and the category of industries in the vicinity of the valley. “The officials should submit a report on the quantity of industrial sewage released by the factories, the capacity of the STP installed and the quantity of treated water used for tertiary and other purposes. Also, the details of treated sewage released to the valley should be given,” he said.
