Disha commission questions two inspectors, NHRC member
Hyderabad: Disha Commission on Tuesday questioned at its premises in Telangana High Court Manzil Saini, head of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) team, apart from inspectors Arun Tyagi and Deepak Kumar.
The commission grilled them why a rough sketch of the encounter site had not been drawn on the spot. It also wanted to know why photographs and video of the location had not been taken when NHRC members visited the place.
The three responded that they could not do so as a considerable crowd had gathered at the encounter site. A major commotion had also started at that time, which made them fear for their safety.
The commission wondered how the safety of police officers could be a challenge when they are escorted by policemen. To this, the policemen being interrogated replied that they feared they would fall, which would be an embarrassment for them.
The panel wanted to know why injured policemen had not been interrogated in the hospital. The NHRC team chief said they had been told at the time that these officials had been under observation.
The commission took on record an affidavit of Care Hospitals, wherein its superintendent maintained that vital organs of the policemen had been stable and they could speak to the injured officers.
Disha commission has been holding hearings on an everyday-basis. The panel will continue its questioning till everybody involved in the encounter is examined, court officials stated.
