TN CM’s insurance, PMJAY merger likely: R Kamaraj

PUDUKKOTTAI: The Tamil Nadu Government is considering to merge the Chief Minister's comprehensive health insurance scheme with the Pradan Manthri Jan Arokiya yojana scheme (PMJAY) and implement the merged project across the state to benefit 1.57 crore families, according to Tamil Nadu Food Minister R. Kamaraj.

Inaugurating a health awareness medical camp under the PMJAY at Sannanallur village near Nannilam in Tiruvarur district under the leadership of district collector T. Anand, on Saturday, Mr.Kamaraj also informed that under this proposed merged health insurance scheme, 1,027 treatments including diseases afflicting infants, 154 continuous treatment needed 38 rare life-threatening diseases will be covered.

Meanwhile, the Pudukkottai district administration has announced it will organise Grama Sabha meetings in all the 497 village panchayat areas across Pudukkottai district on October 2, Gandhi Jayanthi Day.

Ms. B. Umamaheswari, collector of Pudukkottai said on Saturday that during the 'Grama Sabha', among other issues, installing rainwater harvesting structures, renovation of water bodies to store more water, and avoidance of open defecation will be discussed.

The collector invited the members of the women self-help groups, differently-abled persons, and representatives of the NGOs to attend the meeting without fail.
