Split in MP cops over honey trap

Questioning Mr Singh’s role in the probe by SIT, Mr Sharma said the constitution of SIT has been ridden with controversies from very beginning.

Bhopal: The sensational honey trapping and blackmailing racket that ensnared high profile people including politicians and babus has split the top level of the Madhya Pradesh police.

Special director general of police (DGP) (cyber cell and special task force) of Madhya Pradesh, Purushottam Sharma, on Saturday questioned the functioning of special investigation team (SIT) constituted to probe the matter, demanding to the divestiture from DGP V.K. Singh the charge of supervising the SIT inquiry.

Questioning Mr Singh’s role in the probe by SIT, Mr Sharma said the constitution of SIT has been ridden with controversies from very beginning.

He said the SIT was recast within 24 hours of its constitution, in which an Additional DG has replaced an Inspector general of police (IGP) as its head.
