OOTY: As the special fare special train trips during weekends in Nilgiris Mountain Railway(NMR) scripted success stories during the summer as well as in the period between July and September, now the Southern Railway has decided to operate this special train in the weekends till December-end.
A release from Salem Division of the Southern Railway stated that special fare special train in weekends will have a composition of 4 coaches with First Class seats-72, Second class seats 100, totaling for 172 seats.
While the ascending trip from Mettupalayam to Ooty will be operated on all Saturdays, the descending trip from Ooty to Mettupalayam will be run on all Sundays.
This special weekend trips will be run between October 5 and December 29.
The fare structure in the this special train is as follows:
First Class(For a single trip):- between Mettupalayam and Ooty Rs 1450, between Mettupalayam and Coonoor Rs.1100, between Coonoor and Ooty Rs 550, Second Class (For a single trip):- between Mettupalayam and Ooty Rs 1050, between Mettupalayam and Coonoor Rs 800 and between Coonoor and Ooty Rs 450. The fares includes the value added pack of Rs 200.
The ascending train will start at 9-10 am at Mettupalayam and will reach Ooty at 2-25 pm., The descending train will start at 11.25-am at Ooty and will reach Mettupalayam at 4.20-pm, it added.
