Chennai: Three more first year medical students, including a girl, have been picked up by the CB-CID officials in connection with Neet impersonation fraud. They are suspected to have used proxies to clear their exams. The investigation was conducted based on a tip-off provided by Udit Surya, the first year student of Theni medical college arrested for having used an impersonator to clear his Neet.
The three students, Abirami of Sathya Sai College, Praveen of SRM college and Rahul of Balaji medical college, were arrested along with their fathers on Saturday. Two of the detained students got impersonators to write Neet in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh for them. Rasheed, one of the brokers responsible for arranging an impersonator for Udit Surya in Mumbai, is believed to be involved in these cases too. The police are also on the lookout for two more agents connected to the scam. George Joseph, a native of Kerela who runs a NEET coaching centre at Thiruvananthapuram was also arrested in relation with the case on Friday. Meanwhile, Mohammed Irfan, another suspect and a first year student of Dharmapuri medical college fled the town. The police are currently on the lookout for him.
The Neet scam was uncovered when Udit Surya, a student of Theni Medical College was accused of using a proxy to clear his Neet. He was subsequently found guilty and arrested along with his father. The father and son are currently lodged in Madurai Central prison.
