Chennai: A 70-year-old man has approached the Madras high court making allegations of land-grabbing against youth welfare and sports minister P.Balakrishna Reddy.

According to petitioner, his grandfather Petha Hanuma Reddy purchased 32.87 acres of agricultural land in Krishnagiri district long ago from Ramaiah. From then, the property was in possession of his ancestors and till now the possession was with him and his brothers. They have been paying property tax and carrying out cultivation. While so, Hanumaiyah and five others started giving trouble to them and in that regard civil suits were filed and were pending before the sub-court, Hosur. In the meantime, Balakrishna Reddy, who was the close relative of Hanumaiyah became an MLA of the constituency, and attempted to include their names in the patta. The District Revenue Officer, Krishnagiri, passed an order calling for a fresh inquiry with regard to the ownership of the property. Therefore, he has filed the present petition to quash the order of the DRO, he added.
