Tamil Nadu: Cops told to book petitioner for filing forged documents
Chennai: Imposing an exemplary cost of Rs 50,000 on a petitioner for misleading the Madras High Court by filing forged documents in connection with a property dispute, the court has directed the police to register case against him.
When a petition filed by T. Jayaraman came up for hearing, Justice S. Vaidyanathan directed the petitioner to pay the amount to Bala Gurukulam School, Villivakkam, where poor and downtrodden students are studying.
In the petition T. Jayaraman sought to quash an order dated February 3, 2004 passed by the Executive Engineer, Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, Sholingur, Vellore district cancelling the transfer order issued in favour of him. The matter relates to a property dispute between Jayaraman and Dayalan and the electricity service connection provided to the land.
After the department found that the claim of Jayaraman was not correct on the service connection which was transferred to Jayaraman's name, the EE cancelled it.
Dismissing the petition, Justice Vaidyanathan said a comparison of the original sale deed with that of its certified copy clearly shows that the petitioner had played a fraud by inserting a page in the original sale deed.
