CHENNAI: Former chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa’s medical report gave fresh ammunition for Opposition parties to target the V.K. Sasikala family with several of them questioning the “delay” in hospitalising the late CM even after her health had clearly deteriorated.
M.K. Stalin, on Thursday, said that if a lie detector test was conducted, “many truths” would come from state ministers on her demise. Apparently taking a dig at the ministers, he said that rationalist outfit Dravidar Kazhagam’s chief K. Veeramani gave a “beautiful idea of a lie detector test.”
Stalin reiterated that only a CBI probe would unearth the truth. “Not only state ministers, but several others who had visited Apollo Hospital here during Jayalalithaa’s hospitalisation should be inquired on the issue,” he said.
PMK chief Dr S. Ramadoss too demanded a CBI probe and said Chief Minister Palaniswami and deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam should be questioned by the central agency.
DMK Rajya Sabha MP and spokesperson T.K.S. Elangovan asked, “When was the last time a sugar test was taken on Jayalalithaa before her hospitalisation on September 22, 2016? Why was she not given proper medical care despite she was being unwell for two-three days?” He also wanted to know why an ambulance, which would always be there with the Chief Minister’s convoy, was not at her residence on that night and what was the reason behind calling for the Apollo Hospital ambulance.
VCK president Thol Thirumavalavan too wanted to know why there was no ambulance at the chief minister’s residence.
