254 army recruits join Madras Regiment in Ooty
OOTY: The colourful autumn environs in the Army centre at Wellington near here on Thursday was vibrant as the 254 army recruits who have completed their training, were attached to the Madras Regiment at a glittering ceremonial and grand attestation parade held at the Madras Regimental Centre(MRC) at Wellington.
The event saw 254 recruits donning the regimental accoutrements of the Madras Regiment and swearing to dedicate their lives to the nation. This follows a grand attestation parade after completion of 46 weeks of rigorous military training. The parade was reviewed by Lt. Gen. Amrik Singh, Commandant, Defence Services Staff College at Wellington.
Speaking on the occasion Lt. Gen Amrik Singh appreciated the instructors and staff for achieving high standards of drill in the parade and lauded the efforts of the MRC to improve the standards of training. He also congratulated the parents of the young soldiers.
