Meet 15 per cent GSDP growth target, N Chandrababu Naidu tells collectors
Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday instructed collectors to accomplish the said 15 per cent Gross State Domestic Product growth rate. He expressed satisfaction over achieving 12.26 per cent growth rate in the first quarter of the financial year.
Addressing the two-day collectors’ conference here, Mr Naidu stressed on the need for achieving more growth rate in agriculture and allied sectors to eradicate poverty as nearly 70 per cent of the population depends on the farm sector.
He advised the collectors to adopt the measures followed in the power sector to transform the state as power surplus state within a span of two years to achieve growth in agriculture sector.
Stating that the state government was successful in stabilising the Krishna delta ayacut through Pattiseema project and protecting the crops in Anantapur district using rain guns, the CM stressed on the need for setting up smart water grids to provide water security to the farmers.
He said that the Central government declared Polavaram project as a national project and the Nabard has come forward to allot Rs 8,000 crore per year.
As there is no dearth of funds, officials should strive to complete the mega project, the first of its kind in the country to make the state a water-surplus state, by the end of 2018,.
The CM asked the collectors to adopt technology for wealth creation for better results in socio-economic and health sectors. He asked the collectors to complete the pulse survey programme by October 15.
Praising the efforts of municipal administration officials, who are going to declare 110 municipalities as open defecation free (ODF) towns, he said the rural areas also should be declared as ODF areas.
Earlier addressing the meeting, chief secretary S.P. Takkar said the investments in agriculture and allied sectors reached Rs 2 lakh-crore.
Deputy Chief Minister and revenue minister K.E. Krishna Murthy said officials should make AP a investment-friendly state.
Finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said that the AP government was able to weather the financial crisis under the leadership of Mr Naidu.
