Vijayawada: Dasu Swathi, working as ward education and data processing secretary at the Governorpet Ward Secretariat under Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, has been suspended by the government.
She has been charged with neglect of his duties and misleading the officials.
This was a part of the disciplinary action for deliberately keeping the government funds without depositing them on time and citing technical grounds as an excuse.
Officials made inquiries as a sum of Rs 3,04,967 was pending with the secretary, Education and Data Processing DASHBOARD. For this, Das Swati said the money was paid through challans on July 25, but the challans were deposited in the head office account on August 16 and 17 this month.
She further misled the officials by saying that there was a delay on the part of the bank in updating the challan.
After conducting an investigation, the officials confirmed that, every month, this officer was keeping two to three lakh of rupees with her without depositing the money on time. This was against the rules.
Gram ward secretariat director Srilakshmi has issued orders to the municipal commissioner to take disciplinary action against Dasu Swathi.
