Tummidihatti project delay irks Ponnam Prabhakar

Mr Prabhakar also objected to TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao’s remark terming his visit to Tummidihatti on Monday a “pleasure trip”.

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee working president and former MP Ponnam Prabhakar wants to know why the Telangana government is not constructing the project at Tummidihatti after reaching an agreement with the Maharashtra government.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, he said that when late chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy laid the foundation stone of the Tummidihatti irrigation project, TRS leaders B. Vinod Kumar, T Harish Rao and others had claimed that it was due to their demands that the Congress government had taken up the Tummidihatti project. “So, why are these leaders now not talking about the project,” Mr Prabhakar asked.

He was critical of the agreement with the Maharashtra government, calling it “a drama”.

Mr Prabhakar also objected to TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao’s remark terming his visit to Tummidihatti on Monday a “pleasure trip”, and said leaders sitting in Banjara Hills know nothing about the problems of farmers and the value of the project.
