Kozhikode: Ayyankali Jayanti celebrated

Ayyankali struggled for the welfare of all Indians.

Kozhikode: The Indian Dalit Federation celebrated the 138th Ayyankali Jayanti at Nalanda Auditorium.

"The dreams of renaissance put forth through all the social movements will be deemed in its true meaning only with the uprooting of religious beliefs and customs. Brahmin will rule you as you continue to follow the Brahmin Gods and rituals," said A. Vasu, a human rights activist.

"Education, reservations and economic betterment cannot emancipate the minorities rather overthrowing the religion system as Ayyankali, Ambedkar and Periyar had put forth is the solution to halt the hegemonic system."

"Ayyankali struggled for the welfare of all Indians. For five years agriculture works were halted by the labourers, led by him, to gain educational rights," said P. Bharathan, IDF secretary.

K. Vimala and K. C. Pushpakumar also spoke on the social reformer and human rights activist whose efforts have contributed to Kerala's educational and overall progress.
