Chennai: Household items in two houses were gutted in a fire that broke out at Korukkpet here on Wednesday morning. However, there was no casualties. Fire spread through two houses as the candles they used due to power cut caught fire on the curtains.
According to police, Pachaiappan and Kanagavallai lived in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar at Korrukpet. Sources said since there was a power cut in the area on Tuesday night, Kanangavallai had lit candles in the hall. The candles soon lit the curtains.
The fire spread to the house of Praveen too. However, he managed to escape.
On being informed the fire and rescue personnel from Korrukpet and Thondiarpet police station rushed to the spot and doused the fire.R.K Nagar police have registered a case.
