Hyderabad: On Wednesday, the BJP held a roundtable meeting with poets, intellectuals and scholars to corner the TS government with the demand to celebrate September 17 as Liberation Day.
BJP TS president K. Laxman reminded the gathering about the sacrifices of the Telangana martyrs who fought against the Razakars.
The saffron outfit has long been making the demand to the TS government to make the celebrations of the liberation of Hyderabad State official.
Dr Laxman said “Before coming to power, Mr Rao promised to officially celebrate September 17 as Liberation Day but he has betrayed the people of Telangana.”
The BJP urged the members present at the meeting to stand together and raise the demand to recognise September 17 as Liberation Day.
BJP leaders say that this year the saffron outfit will celebrate September 17 as state Liberation day across Telangana with aggression and showcase its strength with the new members that it has enrolled in the party.
The BJP high command earlier had directed senior leaders to make arrangements for the celebration in advance.
