Rahul Gandhi to visit Wayanad today

Rahul Gandhi is also expected to visit the Venniyode-Kolavayal tribal colony.

Kalpetta: If nature allows with a good climate, Congress president Rahul Gandhi will visit the flood-hit regions of Wayanad district on Wednesday. Leaders of the District Congress Committee (DCC) here are sceptical of the visit as the sky was cloudy with recurring rains on Tuesday.

According to Wayanad DCC, Mr Gandhi is supposed to land at the Lourdes Matha Higher Secondary School, Pallikkunnu near Kalpetta at 10 45 am on Wednesday. Later he is supposed to visit the Kottathara village which was destroyed by floods. Rahul Gandhi is also expected to visit the Venniyode-Kolavayal tribal colony.

Wayanad DCC president IC Balakrishnan MLA told Deccan Chronicle that as per the information reached, he believes that Mr Gandhi would be visiting the district at any cost. "His visit would help the people to be more confident and to overcome the present plight with more vigour", he added.
