Thiruvananthapuram: The deadline to complete the admission formalities of medical and dental courses has been extended to September 10 due to the floods.
The Supreme Court, which considered the difficulties being faced by the students, extended the time in the state. The mop-up counselling for filling up the vacant seats in MBBS/BDS courses which was scheduled to be started on Tuesday has been postponed to September 4 and 5. The main round of allotments had concluded by Monday. The original deadline fixed by the Medical Council of India to complete the admissions was August 18.
As many as 15 seats in government medical colleges and 150 in private medical colleges had remained vacant after the main round of allotment.
In the mop-up counselling, the candidates admitted to BDS course will be considered for allotment to the vacant seats under MBBS course. However, candidates who were admitted under all- India quota will not be allowed to participate in the mop-up counselling.
Transfer will not be permitted to students admitted to a government college to another or for students admitted to a self-financing college to another.
